CAPPADOCIA. Caesarea. Gordian III. 238-244 AD. AR Tridrachm (23mm - 8.82 g). Dated Year 4 (240/1 AD). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Mt. Argaeus surmounted by wreath; B-NE across field; ETOVC Δ (date) in exergue; c/m: Turreted head of Tyche right within incuse rectangle. Cf. Sydenham, Supp. 600d; Howgego 849 (for countermark). VF, lightly toned, reverse slightly double struck. Rare.
